Honda Aircraft Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Honda Motor Company, Inc. Founded in 2006, Honda Aircraft’s world headquarters is located in North Carolina, the birthplace of aviation. The HondaJet is Honda’s first commercial aircraft and lives up to the company’s reputation for superior performance, efficiency, quality and value.
As the Honda Aircraft Company prepared to take its first jet to market, it had a large backlog of requested reports as the company neared the beginning of aircraft manufacturing. It needed a reliable view of its supply chain in order to ensure a timely launch and ramp up production when ready. It also needed to crystallize its goals for BI maturity levels.
Analytics8 implemented an analytics solution that pulled data from the company’s SAP ERP implementation. It included several valuable reports for the production floor that allowed Honda Aircraft to view parts’ inventories and vendor lead times, creating an effective supply chain view. Moreover, the reports were developed dynamically so that users remained engaged and interested in using the tool. In addition, Analytics8 provided Honda Aircraft with a detailed business intelligence “health check.” It included interviewing stakeholders to determine where they would like to see the company’s BI performance in both the near and long term. We then performed a gap analysis and provided a roadmap to achieving those goals.
With supply chain insight into its new venture, Honda Aircraft was ready to ramp up its production with 25 aircraft on the final assembly line once FAA type certification was received.
